Another Olbermann Train Wreck

I admit it. After watching Sarah Palin's convention address I flipped over to MSNBC to see the destruction Alaska's Governor had wrought. I wasn't disappointed. MSNBC coverage was an absolute train wreck with Keith Olbermann acting as conductor.

Olbermann's eyes lacked focus as he staggered from incoherent point to incoherent point attempting to find something, anything to call on for survival. And Chris Matthews, while he didn't feel a thrill go up his leg, certainly looked as though he had dropped something in his pants.

Though derailed, the "crack" reporting team did everything they could to throw desperate debris at Palin. One flung chunk of garbage: the speech was too partisan. Apparently Obama's prophets never foresaw Republican partisanship coming at The Republican National Convention.

One fruitful folly from the team developed into a college-style drinking game for me: one shot every time they complimented Palin's speechwriter. I guess they were unaware that politicians employed writers to wordsmith their ideas; a strange notion given the fact that they support an eloquent candidate who sounds like SpongeBob's Pal, Patrick, when left unscripted. Which gives me an idea for my presidential debate drinking game: one shot every time Obama says, "uh . . . uh . . . uh"

But my favorite moment of despair was the conductor himself, reading a post from a writer named . . . well, who cares? The point is that Olbermann clenched his whitened knuckles around a sheet of paper and read about the hypocrisy of the McCain camp for trying to keep reporters from talking about Palin's family and then marching them out on the convention floor after her speech. Now, I may have missed it, but was there a time in a national convention when the candidate's family didn't come out on stage after the speech? But in this case, how dare they! They're asking for it. Just look at the way they were dressed.

So, if you want a good laugh, watch the MSNBC scramble after McCain goes after their Messiah tonight.

I used to like Keith Olbermann, but over the past few months, he has really grated on my nerves. He has also become too predictable and inappropriately snarky. Rachel Maddow is a much more interesting liberal who is not afraid to debate people with whom she disagrees.

I've been reading on several sites that a lot of viewers are beginning to turn away from him.

Olbermann has allowed logic to evaporate, attacking everything he sees on the right with reckless abandon without consideration of how foolish he has become.

It's almost as though someone released the shackles over his tounge. It's like he says everything he thinks. It's the same reason he was fired from Fox Sports.

Olbermann is a hack. He should not be covering politics as a "serious" journalist. He's a Jon Stewart wannabe. Yet, his integrity is closer to that of Michael Moore.
