Sarah Palin "Africa" Smear Was A Blog Hoax

It turns out that Sarah Palin did know that Africa is a continent and not a country, but the media didn't know the difference between a blogger hoax and quotes from "an unnamed McCain campaign figure."

I had a feeling this was a hoax, but the media sure ran with it didn't they?

It's interesting in today's media how effective this type of smear is. Even though it was revealed a hoax, four years from now people will probably still say, "Palin. She's the one who thought Africa was a country, right?"

It's sad, and the media should be ashamed.

    You're absolutely right, m.a.
Even today most folk know that "Palin thought Africa was a country" but few that I talk to know that the story has already been outed as a hoax.

But after this election it's clear that the media has no shame.
