Obama Called Us Arrogant

One thing I've notice is that when an American calls America something negative like arrogant, obnoxious or all hick and stupid, it's implied in their comment that they're not talking about themselves. They're talking about those "other Americans" who aren't quite as savvy or sophisticated.

Well, as reported by the UK Telegraph, while hanging out in France our President decided to court their acceptance by throwing his country under the bus like he did his grandmother during the campaign.

President Obama said the US had “failed to appreciate Europe’s leading role in the world."

“Instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times where America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive.”

His speech in Strasbourg went further than any United States president in history in criticising his own country’s action while standing on foreign soil.

Show of hands: how many of you are shocked that Obama "went further than any United States president in history in criticising his own country’s action while standing on foreign soil"? Anyone? Anyone?

Like a little schoolboy trying to impress the redheaded girl who colors her teeth with markers, Barack Obama stood on French land and told them that the rest of us have been arrogant, dismissive and even derisive toward our allies, but he has arisen to change that with his ambrosial wisdom. This from the guy who countered Britain's priceless gifts in remembrance of the HMS Resolute with a DVD set and then dropped an iPod on her royal majesty (just before his cosmopolitan wife patted the queen on the back in typical "rules-and-protocol-doesn't-apply-to-us" Obama style). This from the guy who ignored our Allies during his first foreign media interviews in deference to the Israel-hating crowd. And now he shows the audacity to call other Americans arrogant and dismissive? Are you kidding me?

And I wonder if he's going to come back to America and say it to our face, or is this another episode like the time he traveled to San Francisco and ridiculed Pennsylvanians. (Apparently this genius may not be aware that communication is global these days.) And the sad thing is that there are millions of Obama apologists who still fiddle while our nation's integrity burns.

Is he wrong? The problem with our previous president was that he never admitted when he was wrong and look how far that worked in negotiations around the world.

Finally, when will you and the press get off the Michelle Obama and queen thing. The queen has appeared to have taken a liking to the first lady. Enough already.

President Obama is correct in saying America has been arrogant. When Bush ruled he was the most arrogant President I have ever witnessed. I hope Obama can mend fences with the world in a way Bush never cared to do.

Why don't you have the guts to post the rest of what Obama said:

"But in Europe, there is an anti-Americanism that is at once casual but can also be insidious. Instead of recognizing the good that America so often does in the world, there have been times where Europeans choose to blame America for much of what's bad."

Cropping quotes may be politically clever, but it's not intellectually honest.

The Queen gave the Obamas a signed framed picture of herself and Prince Philip. That is what she gives to the third-world autocratic two-bit banana republic dictators, she has met.

Yes. I think she has really taken a liking to both of them.

He's off to a good start. He has sent Hillary around the world, shaking hands, and telling every thug leader in the world how horrible the US has been over the past 8 years. If that isn't enough, Obama wants to rid the world of nukes, right after NK shoots off a missile with Iranians present. What a wonderful time for the Pentagon to announce a 20% cut in spending on missile defense.

Yes Sue. It is becoming easy to see why you hold this man up to be your hero and saviour of the world. Utterly brilliant.

What I really don't understand is what Obama expects to get out of his "America Sucks Tour." He failed to set the agenda for both the G20 and NATO. What is becoming obvious is that the European leaders understand the man better than many Americans. Let the man give a speech to an "adoring public" like a celebrity and he is putty in your hands.

And H.C., did Obama admit he was wrong about anything during his Euro travels? Of course not. In his opinion the rest of America has been wrong and he has come to set things right.

Obama is an archetype demonstrating the liberal need to be loved by others. It is more important to them than making tough decisions, which bring us back to Obama being putty.
