BOYCOTT DAVID LETTERMAN

Let's face it, the guy is an ass.

We know his politics and expect his continued cheap shots on conservative targets, while claiming that Obama just doesn't provide any material to make jokes about. Right, where's the humor in thinking there are 57 states, telling Austrians that you don't know how they say something in "Austrian," proclaiming to the world that America invented the automobile, mistaking an oval office window for a door, giving the British Prime Minister unusable DVDs after he'd given you priceless international mementos, bowing to the Saudi King but not to the Queen of England . . . and so on, and so on, and so on . . .

So it should surprise no one that Letterman's monologue regularly ignores the "Genius" in the White House while retreading "George Bush is dumb" takes and breaking out a good old boy reference to Sarah Palin dressing like a slut. But Letterman took it too far with his pedophile-inspired joke about Palin's 14-year-old daughter.

Letterman's "joke" came during his monologue:
“One awkward moment for Sarah Palin at the Yankee game, during the seventh inning, her daughter was knocked up by Alex Rodriguez.” He then went on to say that the hardest part about the Palins’ trip to New York was “keeping [former New York Gov.] Eliot Spitzer away from her daughter.”
Later, after the fire started to flicker, Letterman and some of his fellow lefties (like Harpy Huffington) claimed that he was talking about Palin's older daughter, Bristol, who has already had a child. But Bristol wasn't in New York; that was Willow, Palin's 14-year-old child. Right on, Dave! Worse yet I heard one liberal buffoon claim that Palin should expect this when she trots her kids out in public. What? Would this moron feel the same if somebody made sex jokes about the ever-publicly displayed Obama girls? Would this dolt look at a rape victim and say, "it's her fault, look at the way she's dressed."

This morning, when metro Matt Lauer tried to defend Letterman while interviewing Palin, the Alaskan governor replied,
OK Matt I would say that you and anybody else are extremely naive to believe that very convenient excuse of David Letterman's. It took him a couple of days to think of that excuse and 'Uhhh... No, he wasn't talking about my daughter that was there with me at the game, the 14 year-old. He was talking about some other daughter.' Well I think it was a weak excuse and regardless it was a degrading comment about a young woman and I would hope that people would rise up and decide it's not acceptable. Why do young girls have such low self-esteem in America when we think it's funny for a so-called comedian to get away with making a similar remark as he did....
I couldn't agree more.

Don Imus was taken off the air for making a racially insensitive comment. Here we have a "comedian" making sex jokes about a minor and it's supposed to be funny and acceptable? Are so many jumping to his defence just because he's liberal?

Well, The Khaki Elephant is done with Letterman. The remote will never again click his Tele-address. And I urge you to do the same.

This entry is a waste of time. Letterman was doing comedy, just as he has done about many past presidents and celeberties. To say he was targeting a 14 year is crazy. Palin is a dumbass country bumpkin who just just go back into the hole McCain dug her out of. it is now funny that the right is on the side of women when they had repeatedly voted down equal pay for women. Hyprocrisy is a wonderful thing.

Get your facts straight Khaki, Don Imus was taken off the air for calling the Rutgers womens basketball team, mostly black players, "Nappy Headed Hoes." There is no correlation between what he said and David Letterman. Nice try, but you're off on this one.

Letterman's "joke" claimed that the daughter who was at the game with Palin was "knock up" by a Yankee. That would be Willow, 14 years old. People like you may find "comedy" in statutory rape punchlines . . . I do not.

And your idiotic liberal talking point that Republicans repeatedly vote down equal pay for women is as contrived as it is stupid. Republicans repeatedly favor individual rights rather than group rights. Unlike the left, we push legislation that is blind to race and gender, forcing equal treatment for all. But the "victim mentality" preferred by your side has done a wonderful job in stifling self-reliance to maintain an oppressed constituency. No wonder you think hypocrisy is a wonderful thing.

As for Imus, as I mentioned his lame attempt at a joke carried racist connotations (though those who know Imus say he is the furthest thing from a racist). I happen to both racism and pedophilia unfunny. I guess you don't feel the same. No wonder your moniker in "Anonymous"

Way ahead of you, been boycotting him for years.

As far as -isms, the left sure is selective on what is okay. Racism is bad, unless it's directed at Condeleeza Rice. Ageism is a no-no, unless of course it's about John McCain. Sexism is off limits, unless it's Sarah Palin. As far as pedophilia, with so many lib judges giving pedophiles a pass, I'm not sure libs are against it at all.

please don't talk about pedophiles, the Cathlic loving right-wing better not tread there! As for Letterman, his joke was about the older Bristol who already got herself "knocked-up" so it in no way was about rape of a minor. This whole thing is just ridiculous. Yes poor taste for sure, and I'm not defending it. And also, the Obama girls are not paraded in the public eye like the Palin kids.

The Obama girls got a free trip on us for Malia's birthday....to LONDON, but the press barely covered it. Plus, apparently Michelle just can't go to a muslim country because she didn't accompany the first time..and she came late this time, after his Egypt trip. So, that costs, too.......extra planes, extra everything.

I actually saw someone complaining that Palin had had her daughters on the stage after winning the nomination, that she was capitalizing on them!!! Imagine if she had NOT? "What's the matter with her? What's she hiding?" I can't believe the double standard.

Letterman's fading..his numbers went up during the Palin thing; mission accomplished.

Please, you know the president can't fly coach when he takes a trip. That is such a ridiculous argument. Did Bush spend taxpayer money when he went to Texas every other week? This president has to take extra precaution wherever he goes because of the home grown terrorists in our own country, thats pretty sad.

"And also, the Obama girls are not paraded in the public eye like the Palin kids."

Uh.. tell me why Sarah Palin isn't supposed to go to a Yankees game with her daughter.

This comment seems to imply that Sarah Palin provoked these comments by appearing in public with her daughter. How dare she.

You liberals are sick. You'll go to any length to defend a degenerate joke simply because it was about Sarah Palin. But if Letterman had been talking about the Obama girls!

Khaki, how can you stand it? I am a young woman and I am appalled. Even more so by these responses than by David Letterman himself.

Sue, I totally agree that the president has to fly privately, NO question about it..I was saying that the amount of flights of our private Air Force One could have been minimized, that's all.
People who say they should fly coach aren't thinking...that's just plain stupid, you're right.

Letterman is a douche. Always has been. I think the greater point is what Chuck said...equal rights for liberals only. I think pedophiles are next. After all you can't help who you fall in love with. Classic Catholic Priest bring up by Sue. I guess she is a Catholic hater. Stop the hate Sue! Oh and I forgot. George Bush did it. :)N

Anon, you're right. Sue is a wonderful person . . . but some times the left is just blind in their adherence.

Letterman's lame after-the-fact excuse that he was talking about Bristol doesn't even make sense. Willow was the one she took to the baseball game. Willow was the one in New York. Letterman is a sick, sick old dude and no defense is tolerable.

And Chuck you always make me laugh!

And I have never defended those priest of the cover up from the church. It was despicable. Oh, and I wouldn't find a joke about their deprvity funny either. Kids are off limits.

Sue, you come up with the dumbest comments. I personally think you put the Duck to shame.

    First this

    "the Cathlic loving right-wing better"

Catholics voted 54% for Obama, as a group they actually tend to be fairly liberal on a lot of social issues.

    Then this

"As for Letterman, his joke was about the older Bristol who already got herself "knocked-up" so it in no way was about rape of a minor."

Two things. It would be funny if the girl "knocked up" were 18? Second, this whole nonsense that the joke was about Bristol is way past old. It was 14 year old Willow at the game. Nice job of distributing his talking points.

    Finally this

"And also, the Obama girls are not paraded in the public eye like the Palin kids."

Are you joking? They were just as public during the campaign as the Palin children and continue to be displayed more publicly than Palin's children to this day.

You use the usual liberal logic in that anything you say is true by virtue of simply saying it, forget the facts

Khaki thanks for saying I'm wonderful (if it wasn't meant as a joke!), and Chuck, some conservative blogs would ban you for calling another commentor names, such as dumb or stupid!' As for the difference between Palins daughters, Personally, I wouldn't know the difference between the 2 girls, and I'm sure Letterman couldn't either. So when he says he meant Bristol, I believe him. Nice new blog look Khaki, I like it! Nikki, I don't hate anybody. I hear hate talk from you more than you will ever hear it from me. I'm liberal, meaning we are for love, not hate.
