Al Franken: The Senator Thief

Sure, Al Franken was always quick to drop a rape joke, but who knew he (or his handlers) would be so adept at despoiling the electoral system and reducing it's legitimacy to laughable proportions. A recent Wall Street Journal article succinctly described the former SNL wank's road to the senate:

Mr. Franken now goes to the Senate having effectively stolen an election. If the GOP hopes to avoid repeats, it should learn from Minnesota that modern elections don't end when voters cast their ballots. They only end after the lawyers count them.

The strategy employed by the Democrats:
The Democrat's strategy from the start was to manipulate the recount in a way that would discover votes that could add to his total. The Franken legal team swarmed the recount, aggressively demanding that votes that had been disqualified be added to his count, while others be denied for Mr. Coleman . . . While Mr. Coleman's lawyers demanded a uniform standard for how counties should re-evaluate these rejected ballots, the Franken team ginned up an additional 1,350 absentees from Franken-leaning counties. By the time this treasure hunt ended, Mr. Franken was 312 votes up, and Mr. Coleman was left to file legal briefs.

What Mr. Franken understood was that courts would later be loathe to overrule decisions made by the canvassing board, however arbitrary those decisions were. He was right.

So as we saw with ACORN's involvement in the presidential election, once again the Democrats have thwarted Democracy in their quest for power and America is left with a leftest congress that is lefter than we left it yesterday. And in Franken's case, added a left-wing nut job who's radio show demonstrated that his intellectual capacity is roughly equivalent to what's left behind by a loose boweled chimpanzee.

And you thought it couldn't get worse.

oh Khaki please, this post is so far out there considering what Bush and cronies did in his last 'handed on a silver platter' election. Can't you guys ever give the other side credit for an upstanding job well done? Franken was a professional during this whole pathetic mess, Coleman is the clown, Thank God he is GONE!!!

I found it odd that Coleman was leading only till Franken went to pay a sudden visit in DC to Harry Reid. When he got back they found all sort of boxes of ballots in peoples' cars and every ONE was for Franken. ISn't that a coincidence?

Maybe they should take this to the highest court....the one which ruled Bush had won. Do you know there are still people who think Bush lost Florida? Even the liberal U of Miami disproved that one..begrudingly.

Z is right, Sue. It's time to stop pretending that Bush stole the election through the Supreme Court. The Supreme Court simply overturned an FLA Supreme court decision (that had itself overturned 2 lower court rulings) and the gist of their decision was that you can't change election law after the election has taken place. Is that a bad ruling?

Beyond that, every subsequent recount, including one from the NY Times, has demonstrated that Bush not only won FLA, he won it by a greater margin than was actually certified.

    The argument is flat.
