What? It Doesn't Matter Who Is President?

Remember four years ago? Way back when George W Bush was president, unemployment was under 8%, gas averaged under $2 a gallon and only 32 million people had to resort to food stamps? Oh, here are some comparative specs, just in case your memory needs a jog:

Remember how the media loved to blame Bush for all of the country's economic woes? Those woes which, by today's standards seem a bit like Nirvana?

Now, come back to today, when the presidential elections are drawing closer and Barack Obama is going to be called upon to defend his economic record, which reassembles the Jimmy Carter years minus a Billy Beer chaser. How can we expect the mainstream media to handle the Obama financial debacle?

Option 1: Continue to blame Bush. More on this in future posts . . . I'm sure there will be plenty of opportunities.

Option 2: Suddenly start proclaiming that it can't be Obama's fault because a President doesn't really have much to do with the economy. That's right, the same folk who only a few years ago accused Bush of personally melting America's wealth like Paula Dean's butter will now propose that a President has little or nothing to do with American prosperity. So be ready for more headlines like this one feature online by Yahoo: "Who Is President Matters Much Less Than We Think" where "experts" will say things like: "The president generally matters so much less than we think, especially when it comes to the economy." Or "[As] the president begins his reelection campaign in earnest, one must keep in mind that the Oval Office makes up just one part of the large governing pie."

Here it comes, folks. Bush was to blame when he was in the Oval office. But Barack Obama? Come on, he's only the President.

More Job Losses For 2010

President Barack Obama promised that if the stimulus package was passed unemployment would not reach 8%, so imagine the shock over at the Associated Press when the eventually noticed that, not only has the 8% barrier been shattered in 2009, the projections for 2010 are worse yet. Why, they may have to investigate. It's almost as if all of those people who said that the Stimulus Package wouldn't work were right.

WASHINGTON – Brace for a year of stubbornly high unemployment.

Gripped by uncertainty over the economic recovery, employers chopped 85,000 jobs last month, and difficulty finding work helped chase more than half a million people out of the job market.

The unemployment rate held steady at 10 percent. It did not creep higher only because so many people stopped looking for work and are technically not counted as unemployed. But the jobless rate is likely to rise in coming months as more people see signs of an improving economy and start looking for work again. Some economists think it could near 11 percent, which would be the highest since World War II, by June.

The highest unemployment since WWII? No wonder Obama's handlers have decided that he should start sounding like Harry Truman.

Time Magazine's Person of the Year: Bernanke . . . Seriously

Not to be outdone by a Nobel Prize committee that just gave a peace prize to somebody who has done less for peace than Yogi Bear, Time Magazine has given its 2009 Person of the Year award to Ben Bernanke, the current chairman of the Federal Reserve. According to the rag:

He [Bernanke] knows that the economy is awful, that 10% unemployment is much too high, that Wall Street bankers are greedy ingrates, that Main Street still hurts . . . But Bernanke also knows the economy would be much, much worse if the Fed had not taken such extreme measures to stop the panic. There's a vast difference between 10% and 25% unemployment
So, their decision is based on two pillars of indefensible but unchallengeable liberal logic: the rich suck and the economy is bad, but it could be worse (apparently oblivious to the fact that unemployment under Bernarke's watch rose over 3%). It follows the same thought train as "let's saint Ted Bundy, he killed 30+, but at his age he could have killed as many as 50 and didn't."

Many of us believe the economy would have had a faster turnaround if left alone, that it is the extreme measures that heightened the crisis, but that economic philosophy wouldn't work for Obama apologists like Time who are trying everything within their power to justify the events of his destructive presidency.

Debt Shock

Even the laughably liberal New York Times is starting to experience Obamanomic sticker shock. According to the Times headline, the “Federal Government Faces Balloon in Debt Payments: At $700 Billion a Year, Cost Will Top Budgets for 2 Wars, Education, Energy.” The page one article explains that the debt is rising so quickly that "payment shock" is knocking on the door of the American economy so "there is little doubt that the United States' long-term budget crisis is becoming too big to postpone."

Little wonder. With his "brilliant" plans of bailout bucks to GM before bankrupcy and a stimulus package that has produced fewer jobs of late than the buggy whip industry, Obama has displayed the economic accumen of a '70s child star before their '90s rehab. And now he wants to add a trillion dollar government managed health care system to the mix. A system directed by the same people who have destroyed the fiscal condition of medicare, social security and the post office. Looks like we could be in store for generations of debt shock.

National Debt Doubled Down . . . make that UP

Back in February the Obama administration told us that their slaphappy spending spree would only increase the national debt by $7.108 trillion over the next 10 years. Amazing that I could drop "only" in that sentence. More amazing is that some people actually believed Barack Obama. Now Reuters has revealed that a report due from the Office of Management and Budget tomorrow will quietly announce that the administration is now projecting the increase over that period to be closer to $9 trillion. Oh, and that without their health care package which they estimate will cost another trillion (while those calculating above a 3rd grade math level expect the number to be about 4 times that). In fact, if you believe the $9 trillion figure due to be released tomorrow, then just hold your breath and I'll poke you next year when the number hits $12 - $13 trillion.

Here now is an amazing perspective producing point which came to my attention through the Say Anything Blog:
since America breathed it first breath as a nation over 200 years ago the Republic has accumulated a total debt of $11.67 trillion. Under Obama's leadership we will double that debt in 10 short years.

Can anybody with fingers and toes for counting still believe this guy's economic policy is sustainable?

Comedian (Representative) Russ Carnahan on Obamacare

Have you heard the one about the government health care plan that's going to create surplus revenue?

Here is a beautiful clip where the audience doesn't even try to contain it's laughter as Russ Carnahan proudly peddles Obama's Health care plan that will take America down the Euro-highway of marginal medical advances and eternal debt.

Obama's Disastrous Economy

Left wingers who claim that we are still suffering from the Bush economy remind me of children who claim the dog ate their little sister . . . or was that their homework? However the saying goes, you can leave Dubya out of the equation since it was Obama who made some promises about the immediate impact of his deranged economic plan. And what we are seeing is the opposite of his projections. Here are some grizzly revelations:

  • Obama vowed that by this time unemployment would be around 8%. Well, it's at 9.4% (the highest in more than 25 years) and floating upward toward double digits.
  • Obama promised that he would create 600,000 jobs by the end of summer. Of course now, with some wordplay that Vanna White would have trouble following, Obama has shifted his stance to say that he will create "or save" 600,000 jobs. Sounds like suddenly somebody is hoping that even his economic plan can only destroy so many jobs in one calendar year.
  • Since the stimulus package was signed in February, the country has lost 1.6 million jobs. That kinda makes the administration's back patting about creating 150,000 job seem a bit on the simpleminded side.
  • The government has been on an unprecedented (and unpresidential) spending spree, dropping $44 billion in stimulus money, not related to tax cuts, in only 4 months. No wonder Michelle Obama finds it normal to spend $540 on a pair of sneakers.
  • With Obama's plan the national debt is now at an unbelievable 60% of annual GDP (up from 40%), and some 10% of that increase can be credited to the stimulus bill alone.
  • And I'll bang out more about this in the near future, but I'm willing to bet my son's entire action figure collection (including the collectible Jeff Hardy) that if Obama's Health care plan is signed into effect, America will never be out of debt again (and possible never overcome deficit spending).

So carp as you will, my liberal friends. We are now in Obama's economy and it's about as pretty as Nancy Pelosi at 3:00 a.m., when you haven't the protection of a few stiff drinks.

Stimulus Scams

I admit that I've fallen for my share of scams. I've adopted a few Nigerians, purchased "green" cleaning products, and went on a blind date with "a really hot babe, Khaki, trust me." But even I'm starting to see through the swarm of snake oil salesmen that have swooped into our lives via the government stimulus package.

It seems that every day I get a call from some "mortgage company" that just doesn't know what to do with all the free stimulus money that the government has given them so they want to hand it over to me. Or I open a letter from a "financial institution" that wants to give me some of the bailout money that Washington piled into their pockets. Of course, all of these offers eventually have strings attached that will cost money.

Sadly, I never hear a word from the Nigerian children that I've adopted -- ungrateful kids.

Scam artists across the country are apparently sure of one thing: nobody understands the government stimulus package so they have a golden opportunity to make a perverse profit. Simply throw out some bait using the word "stimulus" and wait to reel in the hapless slugs in society who are looking for a handout.

Part of me wonders if momma government is going to step in to stop some of these fraudulent scams meant to take advantage of people who want to take advantage of Obama's promised redistribution of wealth. But then, since the actual pork-laden stimulus package put together by the current administration is little more than a fraudulent scam on the grandest scale . . . what's the point or prosecution?

Barack Obama's First 100 Days

If you want an objective view of Obama's first 100 days all you have to do is turn to MSNBC. And then ask his wife how he's doing.

All sarcasm aside (until sometime around paragraph 4), when it comes to assessments of Obama's first hundred days I couldn't wait to read MSNBC's certain to slather piece on the Prez's early report card. And I wasn't disappointed with Chuck Todd's take:

Right now, the needs of the country and the ambitions of the president are combining to create a reality that Obama will go down in history as one spectacular commander in chief.

Of course, one thing that seems to set Obama part from his recent predecessors is his ability to keep an inner calm about tough issues.

True, Todd admits it could be a spectacular success or failure . . . but should he be employing the word "spectacular" after 100 days with its connotations of, well, all things things that are spectacular? Let me just take a moment to explore the spectacular job that the calmly zen-enriched Obama has done.

The Economy: He has already spent 25%-30% of our total national wealth (based on GNP). And he still plans to deliver tax cuts for 95% of Americans when more than 40% of Americans don't pay any taxes -- in Obamath you may call cabbage handouts to that 40% who don't pay taxes "tax cuts," but for the rest of us it's called a massive increase to welfare. I wonder what the welfare-reforming Bill Clinton thinks about that plan?

Domestic Issues: He signed an executive order that he (and the main stream media) claimed lifted the ban on embryonic stem cell research that Bush had in place, which is interesting when you consider that Bush was the first President to actually fund embryonic stem cell research, he just restricted it (which is quite sensible when you consider that embryonic stem cells have produced roughly the same number of cures as embryonic nasal drainage . . . but don't let that get in the way of a left-wing agenda). Obama then "saved" the auto industry by obliterating the line defining the government's role and forcing the president of GM to resign, then taking away all of Chrysler's bargaining power by giving them a 30-day deadline to sell themselves to an Italian company. Oh, and he's also stepped in to have the Feds control the banks, which, given the government's financial integrity is like having Michael Moore oversee the packaging of Nilla Wafers (which truly are "always in season")

Side question: Does signing an executive order to start funding foreign abortions when your country is deep in deficit spending fall under "Domestic Issues" or "Foreign Policy"?

Foreign Policy: As promised, Obama has engaged both our allies and our enemies. He's bowed to the Saudi king while his wife broke all decorum by back-slapping the Queen of England (who didn't rate the now famous Obama bow). He gave embarrassing gifts to allies, sent out White House memos with the wrong leader's name on them, Gave Russia a gift that was translated incorrectly, told the world that America invented the automobile and rescheduled an international meeting so he didn't miss some personal time.

Of course, Obama has reached out to those who despise America. And how has his "we only want you to like us" approach worked thus far? North Korea has launched missile tests and announced that they will pop something nuclear soon. Russia turned some weapons toward Poland. Iran told the world they are in the final stage of becoming a nuclear power (threat). And the Taliban has taken to announcing their attacks.

I could go on, but I'm suddenly too depressed. It may take 100 years to recover from these first 100 days, and there's more of this to come. But I'd love to hear your take and some of the gems that I've lost the will to write about tonight.

Was Obama Punch Drunk?

Not since Paris Hilton have we seen somebody so in love with their own celebrity. Wait, hasn't somebody already made that comparison? Anyway, unlike most presidents who spend their time meeting with skilled advisers, showing respect to allies and hiring people who haven't cheated on their taxes to run the IRS, our current president thinks the way to run a country is to take your economic plan on the road and feed it to the people via late night TV and Jay Leno. Yes, he was the first sitting president to appear as a guest on a late night talk show -- it seems all of his predecessors thought their role as leader of the free world included a little splash of dignity. But nobody who has looked at Obama's stimulus package will deny that it belongs on the Tonight Show since it may have been authored by a Jay Walking allstar. Ah, and the laughs didn't stop with Leno . . .

Barack Obama has taken his government giggle fest to 60 minutes where he snickered his way through an analysis of the country's current financial woes. Even interviewer Steve Kroft was surprised by Obama's cavalier attitude, asking, "Are you punch-drunk?"

“You're sitting here. And you're— you are laughing. You are laughing about some of these problems. Are people going to look at this and say, ‘I mean, he's sitting there just making jokes about money—’ How do you deal with— I mean: explain. . .”
So yuck it up America, he'll be here all week. In fact, he'll be here three more years. Try the veal.

Gov. Palin Rejects Stimulus Funds

The Governor of Alaska sacrificed some of her popularity in the state to reject some 30% of the stimulus funds offered to Alaska by the federal government, according to the Anchorage Daily News. Sarah Palin decided to accept the money intended for construction projects but reject any funding intended for government operations and the expansion of federal fingers into state business.

Some of the locals are restless over her decision, like acting Anchorage Mayor Matt Claman who charged, "Her rationale is like turning down a gift card because it expires in two years."

But Palin has seen the teeth of the federal beast and knows how they inevitable bite that hand that feeds them. There is no such thing as free "gift card" especially when the congress is handing them out.

AIG: It's Time To Follow The Money

Khaki Confession: I've been hesitant to write about the biggest story in America. The fact is that I don't like being told what to do. The president and his fellow democrats have once again tossed the media a villainous bone to draw attention away from their own indefensible spending orgy. And the media is once again all-too-eager to chase after Obama's bone.

Sure, we're all annoyed by the AIG execs receiving millions of dollars in bonuses, but how does that really compare to the Trillions (with a "T") that the Democrats are confiscating from Americans to feed their insatiable lust for power? Should Americans really be taking Obama's bait and posting death threats against AIG employees while ignoring the fact that the Chosen One and his congress have already raped the country to the tune of 25% of our nation's total wealth?

But AIG is what the president and his cronies want us to write and read about. OK, you want it, big guy, you got! But let's not focus the AIG execs . . . let's rip back the curtain and have a look at the real culprits behind this debacle. And to find out who's to blame you just have to do what you do every time the government gets involved . . .

Follow the money.

The congress is trying to take a bow and gain a little appreciation from the citizenry for dropping a 90% tax on the bonus cabbage received by AIG execs. Listen folks, if you think you're going to get a penny of the money that congress is taxing back into their pockets then turn off Comedy Central and step away from the boob tube. The government will use this newly taxed . . . no "re-taxed" money the way governments always use tax money -- for political gain. And now they've even proven that they can and will establish any tax they want at at rate they want any time they want (which I'm sure is going to have the best and the brightest lining up at corporate HQs across the country to take suddenly low paying jobs and help lead the banks to economic recovery . . . that, or it will have them investing offshore in Chinese drilling operations).

But let's get to the real issue. How did Obama and the congress let this happen?

I'm sure that some in the congress really were unaware of what was actually in the stimulus package. I hate to say I told you so . . . oh, who am I kidding, I love saying it. Many of us tried to warn you. Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid pushed this bill through so fast you would have thought somebody was threatening them with public access IQ testing. They finished it one night and held a vote the next morning. There is no way the people voting on it could have actually read it -- assuming they would have put down their pages long enough to actually read something that didn't contain a dollar sign followed by lots of zeros and the signature of a special interest group.

But not reading the bill doesn't absolve them of blame. They should have joined the minority of voices calling for a delay until the bill was adequately reviewed and revised; the minority who refused to vote "Yea" until they were satisfied.

Of course, there are others who were fully aware of the bonus clause in the Stimulus Package that allowed for the AIG payouts. For example, there was Sen. Chris Dodd (D-Conn) who said on Tuesday that he knew nothing about it but on Wednesday admitted that he had provide the language with a nudge from the White House. Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner at first feigned surprise about the bonuses, only to come clean under pressure after sources revealed to Time magazine that he knew about them as early as February 28. I would provide a few more witnesses from the Treasury, but Obama has yet to fill a number of the important posts there -- where's the rush in this economy?

So if these folk knew about the bonuses, why did they push through the stimulus bill? They'll give you lots of excuses but in the end you'll understand why if you just follow the money.

Politicians helped AIG because AIG helped them.

Follow the money:

And note that the image above is dated. As of today, the top recipients of AIG contributions are . . .

1) Obama, Barack (D-IL) Senate :$104,332
2) Dodd, Chris (D-CT) Senate :$103,900

Government Goes Postal (or "Another Gov. Agency In Debt")

March 21, 2009 from the Associated Press:

The [U.S.] Post Office lost $2.8 billion last year and is facing even larger losses this year, despite a rate increase -- to 44 cents for first-class mail -- scheduled to take effect May 11. The agency said it will reduce staffs nationwide by 15 percent, with more than 1,400 processing, supervisor and management posts at 400 facilities being eliminated.

Another government agency in massive debt? What's next, another non-catholic suiting up for Notre Dame?

Do you remember all of those people who were shocked by the government's poor performance after Hurricane Katrina? As for me, I was shocked by their shock. Hurricane Katrina wasn't an exception to how the government normally reacts, it was a reminder of how inefficient governments run things.

And yet there are those who want to have our banks, our industry and our health care providers reporting to the federal government. Gee, I don't know about you, but I can't wait for everything to go postal.

Newt's 12-Step Plan To Stop The Drunken Stimulus Stumbles Of Obama

12-step programs have long proven to be an effective way to mitigate addiction. And the current administration has more addictions than a Hollywood casting call. They are addicted to spending. They are addicted to bailing out their financial backers. They're addicted to snatching power from the people. And, based on the president's recent appearances, they are addicted to the adulation of sycophantic losers looking for a handout.

We need 12 steps to recovery and we need them like Matt Damon needs a shot to the groin. And finally somebody who knows a little something about how the American economy works is here to deliver a plan.

In 1994 Newt Gingrich led his fellow Republicans with the introduction of The Contract with America, a philosophical shift in congressional thinking aimed at achieving fiscal responsibility. In 1996, Gingrich sacrificed his own reputation at the hands of the left-wing media when he decided to lead the GOP in shutting down the government until President Bill Clinton reeled in his spending proposals. The result . . . some fiscal responsibility on the part of Washington. Of course, the liberal lapdog press barked at Gingrich with attack after attack (only to later praise their intern-bonking, China-empowering presidential hero for "balancing the budget"). Gingrich was about protecting the American economy through practical and difficult decisions no matter what it cost him in popularity.

Well, Newt is back.

And he has a plan that, unlike the dollar dropping derangement displayed by Pelosi-Reid-Obama, shows how fiscal responsibility leads to prosperity. So fresh from American Solutions, a real stimulus plan.

The plan summary:

  1. Reduce the Business Tax Rate. Match Ireland’s rate of 12.5% to keep more jobs in America. Have you seen the remarkable climb of Ireland's economy? And this from a country that doesn't even use it's hands when dancing.
  2. Abolish Taxes on Capital Gains. Match China, Singapore and many other competitors. More investment in America means, are you ready for this . . . more jobs in America.
  3. Controlling Spending So We Can Move to a Balanced Budget. This begins with eliminating Congressional earmarks and wasteful pork-barrel spending like the 9,000 found in the current stimulus bill the President Obama must have forgotten he promised to protect us against.
  4. Payroll Tax Stimulus. With a temporary new tax credit to offset 50% of the payroll tax, every small business would have more money, and all Americans would take home more of what they earn. It's the best Win/Win since
  5. Real Middle-Income Tax Relief. Reduce the marginal tax rate of 25% down to 15%, in effect establishing a flat-rate tax of 15% for close to 9 out of 10 American workers. It would be a concept perhaps foreign to the current administration . . . lowering taxes for people who actually pay taxes.
  6. Homeowner’s Assistance. Provide tax credit incentives to responsible home buyers so they can keep their homes. Key word check: RESPONSIBLE. (Note: this could also prevent Tea Parties.)
  7. No State Aid Without Protection From Fraud. Require state governments to adopt anti-fraud and anti-theft policies before giving them more money. Did you get that New York?
  8. More American Energy Now. Explore for more American oil and gas and invest in affordable energy for the future, including clean coal, ethanol, nuclear power and renewable fuels.
  9. Protect Our Right to Vote in the Workplace. We must protect a worker’s right to decide by secret ballot whether to join a union. Freedom is freedom is freedom.
  10. Replace Sarbanes-Oxley. This failed law is crippling entrepreneurial startups. Replace it with affordable rules that help create jobs, not destroy them. Dubya should have never signed it.
  11. Invest in Energy and Transportation Infrastructure. This includes a new, expanded electric power grid and a 21st century air traffic control system that will reduce delays in air travel and save passengers, employees and airlines billions of dollars per year.
  12. Abolish the Death Tax. Americans should work for their families, not for Washington. And frankly, this is a tax on money that has already been taxed . . . a tax so unamerican it should be named The Al Franken Tax . . . except that Al Franken tends not to pay taxes.

Blowing The Nation's Wealth

I'm not one generally given to quoting comics . . . with the exception of that zany Marmaduke . . . but I couldn't pass on this gem of a question posed in Chris Muir's Day By Day to a pair of Secret Service agents:

Chew on that for a sec. This administration and their soul mates who now hold absolute control in the congress have blown "over a quarter of the nation's wealth in 40 days flat." Obama, Pelosi, Reid and the rest make Jeffrey Dahmer seem sane. At least Dahmer didn't devour future generations.

04 March 2009

Obama's Assualt On The Economy

The Wall Street Journal Reports:

As the Dow keeps dropping, the President is running out of people to blame.

As 2009 opened, three weeks before Barack Obama took office, the Dow Jones Industrial Average closed at 9034 on January 2, its highest level since the autumn panic. Yesterday the Dow fell another 4.24% to 6763, for an overall decline of 25% in two months and to its lowest level since 1997. The dismaying message here is that President Obama's policies have become part of the economy's problem.

The Democrats who now run Washington don't want to hear this, because they benefit from blaming all bad economic news on President Bush. And Mr. Obama has inherited an unusual recession deepened by credit problems, both of which will take time to climb out of. But it's also true that the economy has fallen far enough, and long enough, that much of the excess that led to recession is being worked off. . . . What goes down will come up -- unless destructive policies interfere with the sources of potential recovery.

Really? So raising taxes on corporations and the most productive Americans isn't good for the economy? And continually claiming that we are in the worst economic disaster since the great depression, conveniently forgetting the economic numbers produced during the Carter years, doesn't build consumer confidence?

In other news:

Overeating without exercise makes you fat.

Lack of sleep will make you tired.

Rotting corpses attract flies.

Barack Obama Lies Yet Again

If you were to lay the lies of this liar literally laterally the would loop the globe more times than the moon in a month hopped up on Starbucks' Doubleshots.

Remember the doozy he told about his great uncle being among the troops that liberated Auschwitz? Or how about when he tried to convince us that he barely knew Tony Rezko and William Ayers? Then there was the time he said he fully supported the 2nd Amendment only to receive millions in support from anti-gun groups after indicating on a questionnaire that he supports banning “the manufacture, sale and possession of handguns.” Oh, and what about the time he claimed that he would "aggressively pursue an agreement with the Republican nominee to preserve a publicly financed general election" then, unlike the Republican nominee, broke his promise to gain an enormous financial advantage. Ah, don't forget his vow that only people making over $250,000 a year would have their taxes raised . . . ha, that was funny. Yes, yes, and how he gave his word that there would be no lobbyists in his White House, then opened the floodgates after winning the election. I also recall his claim to establish the most transparent administration in history . . .

Etc., etc., etc.

How can you tell when Barack Obama is lying? Together now: HIS LIPS ARE MOVING.

Well, The Chosen One is at it again.

During the campaign Barack Obama promised all of us that he would be fiscally responsible and refuse to sign earmark laden bills. Along comes the "Stimulus Bill" spending spree with its "8,600 specially sponsored projects totaling $7.7 billion" and the Prez once again displays his love of the lie. Oh, he's gonna sign this baby no matter what he promised us about earmarks before the election.

When questioned about the earmarks and Obama's promise, his budget chief Peter Orszag said, "We want to just move on. Let's get this bill done, get it into law and move forward." I see. White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel was even more loquacious, explaining, "That's last year's business." Uh huh. Right.

So now I have to wonder, can we believe anything this guy says? Ever?

After all of this he has me thinking about other weird things. Like, remember that touching moment when he flew to Hawaii to visit with his dying Grandmother? Well, Grandma wasn't the only agenda item for Mr. Obama on that trip. He also took a detour to have the Governor of the State "seal his birth certificate to make sure no one in the press obtains access to the original document under any circumstances." Now, why would a President who professes transparency move to have his original birth records sealed?

What else has this guy lied about?
What else will this guy lie about?

The Democrat's Stinking Stimulus Scam

"I think when you spread the wealth around, it's good for everybody."

While Barack Obama didn't quote Chairman Mao directly, he did come close enough that we all smelled the stench of redistribution on his loafers. And now we can see the eventual source of the stink. It's called "The Stimulus Package" and America just stepped in it.

Maybe the poopiest (good Lord, did I just write that word?) part of the package is the insane mortgage rescue elements. Larry Kudlow described it best:
President Obama’s massive mortgage-bailout plan is nothing more than a thinly disguised entitlement program that redistributes income from the responsible 92 percent of home-owning mortgage holders who pay their bills on time to the irresponsible defaulters who bought more than they could ever afford. This is Obama’s spread-the-wealth program in action.

Team Obama is rewarding bad behavior. It is enlarging moral hazard. It is expanding its welfarist approach to economic policy. And with a huge expansion of government-owned zombie lenders Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac, Team Obama is taking a giant step toward nationalizing the mortgage market.
Oh, and to make matters worse, the administration is making sure its favorite feckless lenders aren't subjected to additional regulation by fiscal watchdogs. Haven't we seen this before?

CNBC correspondent Rick Santelli added his voice of outrage from the commodity pits, to the supportive cheer of traders:

But President Obama isn't listening because this "stimulus package" isn't about helping the economy or supporting the American idea. This package is about paybacks. It's about political gain. It's about a socialistic redistribution of wealth. And it stinks.

Obama's Speech To The Democratic Caucas

Barack Obama isn't hard to read. With each appearance his M.O. becomes more apparent . . . and I think even the most assimilated Obots may be be seeing that this is not the CHANGE we were promised when we (or some of you) elected him. Why, with each public appearance he conjures ghosts of the past to frighten us about our future.

Did you catch his speech in front of the Democratic Caucus? I don't know about you, but the words and images from that little talk just keep echoing through my tormented brain. He waved his hands like Dean Rooney, telling the audience what's best for them as he tries to save us from ourselves. But the pattern, ah, the Obama pattern of "persuasion" is something we've seen before and each element was present as he spoke to the faithful about his stimulus package.

  1. Spend, spend, spend. That's right folks, Jimmy Carter is back in the White House. The answer is always throw more money at the problem. Joe the Plumber tried to warn us that Barack Obama was all about spending, but Biden pointed out that ol' Joe didn't have a proper license to plumb, so we just couldn't listen to that nut. And while we Republicans keep pointing out that this bill is nothing more than a spending spree, Obama retorted, "What do think a stimulus is? That's the whole point. No, seriously, that's the point." So, the point of stimulus is record spending and increasing debt? Apparently in his vast executive experience Obama has never encountered the effective economic stimulus strategy of cutting taxes and government spending.
  2. Demonize, demonize, demonize. If you don't agree with this administration you are the devil incarnate. He ridiculed the Republicans by claiming that their opposition to spending like Bacchus at a satyr orgy "risked harming the nation." Wicked, wicked Republicans. Then he announced that he "would not tolerate" high salaries paid out to CEOs in companies that received bailout money. Wicked, wicked CEOs. Funny, he apparently is prepared to continue his tolerance of the kickback cash that these bank CEOs poured into the coffers of left-wing politicians. Oh, maybe that's because he was the #2 beneficiary of their ill gotten goods.
  3. Feign empathy, feign empathy, feign empathy. Taking a page out of the Bill Clinton LieBrary, Obama increasingly attempts to demonstrate how he feels our pain. He spoke with stuttering eloquence about the places he had been and the people he had seen in all 57 states. And despite being a millionaire who was raised by a bank vice president and attended only the best schools, he knows what it's like to be in need. And so, like any hypocrite, to help the needy he turns to principles embedded in the least empathetic economic system ever constructed, socialism, to answer the cries of the weeping. Of course, while socialism has a dismal track record of creating opportunity for the poor, it has a terrific tradition of consolidating power for those at the top. And if the Democratic Party has shown us anything with their new found numbers and control of the oval office, it's an insatiable lust for power.
  4. Lie, lie, lie. Without a doubt, this is Obama's most consistent strategy. Just lie. Continue to destroy consumer confidence by claiming this is the worst economy since the great depression (those of you who believe that, you might want to compare the actual numbers with a little thing we like to call "the Carter years"). The president croons about his call to heal partisan rifts, then works with Pelosi and Reid to lock Republicans out of negotiations over the stimulus package. He quotes bogus projections that could only be derived from the bizarro calculations of Obamath. And thus far his tactic has been fairly effective since, as Mark Twain said, “A lie can travel halfway around the world while the truth is still putting on its shoes.”

The Obama M.O. is there for America to see. Some of us see it. But when will the rest?

This Is Not A Stimulus Package

I repeat: this is not a stimulus package!

Look, the economy has issues now, right? NOW. N-O-W. That being the case, why in the world would the Democrats formulate a "stimulus" package where most of the "stimulus" doesn't happen NOW, but is delayed until 2011-2012, right before the next election cycle? Face it, this is not a stimulus package to help the economy now, it's a Barack Obama reelection spending spree.

And when you start looking at the numbers, Obama's plan is more frightening than a blind date with Lorena Bobbitt. The "wretched excess" of this bill is a debt-raising, employer-crushing, welfare-building spending orgy the likes of which even Washington has not seen before. But just in case you're a hard working American who feels this package isn't going to screw you, your children and you grandchildren quite enough, you may want to try this:
